Chuba Akpom Scores Brace for Arsenal U23s

20 Year old England youth international of Nigerian origin Chuba Akpom was in fine form as his brace helped the Arsenal U23s secure a 3-1 win over Derby County in the Premier League 2 at St George’s Park National Football Centre on Friday night

It was a classy first half performance from Arsenal which saw them outclass Derby County’s Under 23s already leading by 2 goals by the end of the 1st half

Chris Willock opened the scoring after being freed through on goal by Akpom.

Akpom showed his pace to collect a loose ball midway inside the home side’s half and slipped a finely weighted pass into the path of Willock to his left, who took a touch before beating Henrich Ravas with a low shot as the Rams went behind for the third consecutive game.

Chuba Akpom himself who was on loan at Hull City last season, made it two with a similar finish on 27 minutes

Akpom got his second the 55th minute from close range to make it 3 -0 and could have sealed his hat trick, but he screwed his effort wide when well placed.
